Cum ajung in Laganas – insula Zakynthos?

Traseul auto Bucuresti – Laganas este de aproximativ 1.260 km si se parcurge in circa 21 de ore de mers cu autoturismul);

World’s coolest activities await in Arctic Europe

Moose safaris and Northern Lights without snow? World’s coolest activities tease all your senses in Arctic Europe.

In autumn, escape to a place that wakes up all your senses and lets you have space all for yourself. In the world’s coolest region, in Arctic Europe, you can experience moose safaris and enjoy the magical Northern Lights, in just a couple of days. In the northernmost parts of Finland, Sweden and Norway, pure Arctic nature is combined with high-class service – not forgetting the region’s utmost care to hygiene and safety measures.   In the world’s coolest region, one would expect things are done a little differently. And they are. In Arctic Europe, neighboring regions in three countries with original cultures, varied landscapes, Aurora Borealis and Santa Claus, are joined together in an innovative co-operative marketing project that enables the whole region to influence different markets more effectively. This approach pays dividends to all: the visitors can experience Arctic pure nature in a variety of high-class services in the whole region.   Experience Northern Lights in early September – and not in snow The most important reasons to travel to Arctic Europe are impressive by all standards. In just a short space of time, visitors can experience space and nature, world’s cleanest air and water, certified sustainable destinations – and all this whilst avoiding the crowds.   One of the highlights of visiting the region in Autumn is experiencing Northern Lights – this time in trainers, not snow boots. In autumn, Northern Lights are visible in Arctic Europe starting from early September, meaning that you can enjoy the magical show in your lighter autumn gear, not wrapped up in puffer jackets and heavy snow boots.   There’s also a chance to see “double auroras”, when northern lights reflect from a calm, unfrozen lake.   One can experience Northern Lights as soon as the nights get dark. In most parts of Arctic Europe that is from the beginning of September but in the northernmost parts already in end of August. Open spaces with good view to the north are the best places to see the Northern Lights.

Autumn activities in Arctic Europe   Autumn is a comfortable time to be active in the nature as it’s not too warm or too cold. In autumn, a visitor can experience most summer-activities but also have a chance to see the northern lights in the night.   Autumn is also the most colourful season as leaves and fells turn golden and red. Foraging is great when berries and mushroom get ripe. You can enjoy a meal made of these fresh ingredients in a local restaurant or learn to prepare them yourself, guided by a professional. A list of Arctic activities to enjoy in autumn:

  • hiking or biking in crisp clean air
  • foraging: picking berries and mushrooms
  • Northern Lights – not in snow
  • kayaking, fishing and king crab
  • husky cart tours
  • attractions and museums
  • sea safari/riverboat safari
  • Northernmost point of Europe – North Cape
  • ATV-safari
  • Whale watching
  • A taste of Sáme lifestyle
  • Cave adventures
  • Sauna
  • Canoeing in Beaver land
  • Moose safari and “Wild locals” animal safaris
  • Wildlife and nature photo tour
  • White water rafting
  • Ice hotel and tree hotel

Post-Covid19 and travelling in Arctic Europe   In post-corona times, in the thinly populated Arctic Europe you can have space all for yourself and enjoy the region that pays utmost care to safety and hygiene measures. Arctic Europe is easily accessible from all corners of the world; it’s accessible by air through international airports like Rovaniemi in Finland, Kiiruna in Sweden, and Tromså in Norway, and also by road, rail and sea. Once in the region, a visitor can travel through Arctic Europe easily on Arctic Route that combines bus and train transportation in parts of all three countries. Within the countries there are flight, ferry and bus connections and some cross-border connections and rental cars are available in the whole area. Many companies offer flexible booking arrangements in these uncertain times.   By combining destinations, you can see the best variation of what Arctic Europe has to offer. Make sure to reserve enough time in each destination, so that you can experience activities in the nature and feel calm and relaxed. And if you are short of time, you can always explore just one destination. But in order to get most out of your trip, try spending at least 5 days in Arctic Europe and experience all that the unique destination has to offer.

Istanbul Airport to launch Privileged Service for Passengers aged 65+ years

Having proven itself as a global hub along with its unique architecture, strong infrastructure, superior technologies, and the outstanding travel experience offered to passengers, Istanbul Airport is launching privileged services for passengers aged 65+ years who are most affected by Covid-19.

Recognized among the best of its peers worldwide and a gamechanger breaking one stereotype after the other in aviation industry, Istanbul Airport has expanded its range of privileged services to include special services for passengers aged 65+ years.

With flights resumed in June, thus bringing along a gradual increase in operational density, Istanbul Airport is now offering special services for passengers aged 65+ years who are most affected by Covid-19, with an eye to facilitate their travel and improve their airport experience. The special services that will be available for free or at a discount are aimed at maximizing the airport experience of passengers aged 65+ years.

To facilitate their travel and, most importantly, to make their time spent at the airport more comfortable, passengers aged 65+ years who are considered high-risk in terms of Covid-19 and were locked down in their homes for some time to protect their health during the pandemic, will be able to benefit not only from the privileged services of İGA Pass, but also services like pharmacy, either for free or at a discount until 31st of December 2020. This special experience launched by Istanbul Airport will also include the services by Turkish Airlines.

Passengers aged 65+ years to get the İGA special passenger services for free…

For a privileged travel experience, passengers aged 65+ years who have been experiencing the most adverse impacts of Covid-19 can now benefit from the İGA Fast Track and İGA Buggy services by İGA Pass completely free of charge during the pandemic, thus attaining the opportunity of an even more enjoyable travel experience thanks to free Fast Track and Buggy services.

In addition, passengers aged 65+ years will get a 35 % discount on İGA’s special passenger services İGA Meet & Greet, İGA Lounge and İGA Sleepod. Thus, only 65% of the actual service fee will be charged for these services. Offered with slogan “65+ pays only 65%”, these services aim at a safe and comfortable travel experience for passengers in an advanced age group.

Passengers aged 65+ years to get privileged service also in healthcare and pharmacies…

The privileged services now offered at Istanbul Airport for passengers aged 65+ years get even more special with the inclusion of healthcare services and pharmacies. Having partnered with Şafak Health Group, Istanbul Airport is now offering its passengers aged 65+ years 20% discount on private medical examination fees, along with free-of-charge transport to their boarding gate with a medical car, accompanied by a physician.

Moreover, certain services of contracted pharmacies at Istanbul Airport such as handling of medications, blood pressure measurement and the like are now furnished free of charge for passengers aged 65+ years. Along with that, passengers in this age group get 15% discount on all non-medication products, while hygiene products like masks, hand sanitizers, medication boxes etc. are offered completely free of charge, subject to availability. On top, passengers aged 65+ years requesting delivery of medication to their current location in the terminal will get their medication delivered together with special gifts.

“Passengers aged 65+ years are always held in high esteem”

Commentating on the privileged services recently launched at Istanbul Airport for passengers aged 65+ years, Kadri Samsunlu, CEO and Director General at İGA Airport Operation Inc, made following statements: “Elderly people aged 65 years and over are of great value to us. By decision of our government, people of this age group were locked down in their homes for some time to protect their health during the pandemic. In a sense, it is our duty to protect them, make life easier for them. We have launched certain privileged services and products to facilitate travel for passengers aged 65+ years and make the time they will spend at Istanbul Airport more comfortable. With this mindset, we are aiming to turn the travel experience of these passengers into an experience of pure joy. Turkey’s flag carrier Turkish Airlines has also joined this new practice to maintain integrity in passenger services. As you know, our primary post-coronavirus objective at Istanbul Airport is to prove ourselves as ‘an airport that gives maximum priority to safety and hygiene’. To that end, we have obtained the Airport Pandemic Certificate and become the first airport in Turkey to sign the Covid-19 Aviation health Safety Protocol. As the ‘most socially distanced’ airportin terms of hygiene, we are continuing to work at full pace to offer all our passengers a unique airport experience.”

Lefkada – insula plajelor exotice

Zakynthos – insula broscutelor Carreta-Carreta

The capital of the island of Zakynthos – Zakynthos Town. Greece

Insula Kefalonia

Santorini – insula apusurilor romantice

PHOTO SAINT-JOSEPH : Photos pictures Saint-Joseph 97212

The Villa built by René Lalique in 1920 has been reinventing itself since September 2015. Under the direction of Silvio Denz, Chairman and CEO of Lalique, the Villa has been transformed into a five-star hotel, with a gourmet restaurant that has been awarded two Michelin stars in January 2016, little more than three months after its opening. A showcase for Lalique’s craftsmanship and flair, Villa René Lalique offers six exclusive suites. The décor was commissioned from interior designers Lady Tina Green and Pietro Mingarelli. Romain Iltis, the Villa’s Sommelier of distinction from Alsace was awarded ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France’ in 2015 and ‘Meilleur Sommelier de France’ in 2012. He is in charge of the exceptional cellar – one of Europe’s finest – with over 60,000 bottles in stock. Villa René Lalique is part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux collection, an association of more than 569 exceptional properties worldwide. Since January 2019, the Villa has become a member of the prestigious gastronomic association “Les Grandes Tables du
Monde”.

A heartfelt tribute to the French Art de Vivre, Villa René Lalique opened its doors to the public on September 18, 2015.

To appreciate the history of Villa René Lalique, it is necessary first to
understand who René Lalique was, and what he brought to the iconic
Maison he founded.

Lalique: the very name is the stuff of legend. Lalique: symbol of light and transparency, sparkling crystal, elegantly designed jewelry, artistic tableware and precious perfume bottles. The creator of all this was visionary artist, René-Jules Lalique, born in 1860 in Ay, a hamlet in the Marne region of France. From his early youth, he took an interest in art and design. He studied to become a goldsmith and designer at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. This brilliant young prospect was immediately hired by celebrated jewellers of the day including Boucheron,

Vever and Cartier. In 1878 he moved to London for two years, attending courses at Sydenham Art College. Back in Paris, he spent four years working as a freelance designer for several jewellers before starting his own
jewellery business. From 1888, he engraved his first gold ornaments, inspired by classical antiquity and by Japonism. Already an innovator, he embellished his creations with surprising materials that broke the rules
of his day. He would mix gold and precious stones with semi-precious stones, enamel, glass, leather, horn, even mother-of-pearl. His philosophy: “Better to seek beauty than flaunt luxury.”

Founded in 1888, today Lalique is one of the leading
lights of French crystal production. Founder of the
Maison and creative genius René Lalique was first
known as the inventor of modern jewellery before
becoming a master of glassmaking. With time, the
Lalique name has become a powerful symbol of savoirfaire,
synonymous with luxury, excellence, creativity,
and an instantly recognizable style. Today, the Lalique
brand is reinventing the creative and eclectic universe
of René Lalique through contemporary creations in five
fields: decorative objects, interior design, jewellery,
fragrances and art. Lalique partners with other luxury
goods brands, as well as leading artists and designers
to create fresh, out-of-theordinary pieces that benefit
from each partner’s expertise. For nearly a century, all
Lalique crystal pieces have been made in France, at its
factory in Alsace that was built in 1921.
Lalique is making its mark as a truly timeless brand of
luxury and Art de Vivre.

SIX EXCLUSIVE SUITES
Steeped in history, the Villa was home to the
founder and his family during their stays in
Alsace. After René Lalique’s death in 1945, his
son Marc and granddaughter Marie-Claude,
continued to stay there on a regular basis. Silvio
Denz, keen to breathe new life into the house,
converted it into an exclusive hotel-restaurant. He
commissioned interior designers Lady Tina Green
and Pietro Mingarelli to carry out the refurbishment.
They are the designers of the ‘Lalique Maison‘ Art-
Deco inspired furniture and decorative accessories
collection, created in 2011 and inspired by original
René Lalique motifs. In accordance with Silvio Denz’s
wishes, the atmosphere and authenticity of the family
home has been preserved. With this in mind, the exterior
has been restored exactly as it once appeared, complete
with blue shutters, faithfully reproducing the look of the
original building. While retaining the original structure, the
designers have imagined six suites that evoke the genius of
René Lalique, down to the last detail. All different, they each
bear the name of an emblematic René Lalique creation that
harks back to a decade in the life of the master glassmaker.
The exception is the ‘Zeila’ suite, named after Marie-Claude
Lalique’s famous panther.

THE RESTAURANT

This flagship building by Mario Botta
makes no apology for being modern.
A rectangle of glass, borne on columns
of red Vosges sandstone, it forms an
extension, linked to the house by an allglass
walkway. Its four glazed sides and
plant-covered roof merge perfectly with the
six acres of glorious parkland planted with
hydrangea, chestnut, birch, beech, oak, spruce
and blue cedar trees. This superb view conveys
an irresistible sense of calm reassurance. As the
architect explains: “The history of architecture is
a history of different periods. Villa René Lalique
dates from the early 20th century and has the
character of that period. The restaurant (…) will be a
contemporary expression, sensitive to present day.”

ATTRACTIONS WITHIN REACH
OF THE VILLA

The village of Wingen-sur-Moder lies
at the heart of the Northern Vosges
Regional Nature Park. Villa René Lalique is
the perfect destination for lovers of nature,
culture, gastronomy and wine.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Le Musée Lalique – the museum built by
architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte – opened to
the public in 2011. It is a must-see attraction for
Lalique enthusiasts, beautifully encapsulating the
artist’s entire creative output. The costume jewellery
exhibited illustrates the radical new wave of jewellery
design created by René Lalique. An exceptional
large-screen video transports visitors back to the Paris
Exposition Universelle in 1900, a key date in the artist’s
life. This marked a turning point in his career as a
jeweller. There are also more than 230 perfume bottles
to admire, on loan from Silvio Denz, a great collector.
Inspired by René Lalique’s meeting with François
Coty, these perfume bottles marked the former’s
changeover from jewellery to glassmaking. Museum
tours conclude with a film outlining the different stages
in the manufacture of the legendary Bacchantes vase
and a revealing look at the exceptional craftsmanship
of the factory’s artisans.

Strasbourg – an easy hour’s drive away, or 35 minutes
by train (from Wingen-sur-Moder station). Take the
opportunity to (re)discover this city’s many and diverse
charms: from the Cathedral in Petite France by way of
the European institutions and the Palais Rohan.

Many castles and historic sites are worth stopping to
see: the troglodyte cave dwellings at Graufthal and the
castle and museum of Alsatian traditions at La Petite
Pierre.

LOCALISATION
18, rue Bellevue – 67290 – Wingen-sur-Moder – France
Five minutes from Lalique Museum and factory.

History of Mustique

The story of Mustique’s evolution has been well documented over the years. It was a unique concept, the product of one man’s vision that has developed over time into a thriving and desirable destination. Its landscape today possesses the same breathtaking allure that its early residents enjoyed fifty years ago, but now pleasingly combined with a world class degree of modern luxury.

In 1958 Lord Glenconner, Colin Tennant, arrived on Mustique and bought the island for just £45,000 despite the fact it had no roads, no jetties and no running water. Initial ambitions were to see it thrive as a cotton plantation, but these plans did not prove economically viable and Tennant looked for other ways to develop the island.  Having gifted his good friend Princess Margaret a plot in 1960, there was considerable media interest in Mustique as a destination and in 1968 he formed the Mustique Company to develop a private island hideaway for the rich and famous.

There were two architects who helped shape the island during its early years; Arne Hasselqvist, a resourceful construction engineer from Sweden, who was employed by the company to bring Tennant’s vision to life; and Oliver Messel,  a leading British theatre set designer who had developed a reputation for the houses he had designed on neighbouring Barbados.

With the help of entrepreneurial investors a business model was created. The idea was for the island to be split into plots and sold to shareholders who would invest equally in the infrastructure. Plots were quickly bought by an eclectic group of socialites, rock stars and private individuals who flocked to the island from far and wide to create their fantasy dream houses and to be part of something unique.

The last fifty years has seen Mustique become one of the most sought after holiday destinations in the world, where homeowners frequently return and visitors repeatedly rent one of the many private villas that are available throughout the year. Such is the island’s allure that guests come back year after year to visit old friends and embrace the pure escape that Mustique represents – the quintessential private island paradise.
