Frankfurt – Punta Cana, compania Condor Airlines

Londra Gatwick – Punta Cana, compania British Airways

In premieră pe piața turismului

WORLD’S BEST FIVE-STAR HOTELS 2021

World’s Best Five-Star Hotels to stay in during a Global Pandemic

The year 2020 was probably one of the worst for the global travel and tourism industry. But also consumers were hit hard by the pandemic. Unfortunately, 2021 did not bring back travel as we know it: Ongoing travel restrictions, on-arrival quarantines, and dedicated quarantine hotels limit our choice when it comes to travel. Mandatory quarantine hotels and PCR-tests lead to increased costs for international travel while limited connectivity reduces our choice of where to go.

We created this index in collaboration with the travel tech company Eddy Travels in order to suggest which luxury hotels are the best to stay it I case you are either stuck in one country (imagine you are a UK-resident who can’t travel back home from a red-listed country) or who plan to sit out the pandemic in a hotel.
We put a large emphasis on how hotels have adapted to the new realities and public health requirements and looked at what they do in order to keep their guests safe.
As always: An index comes with limitations which we mention further below.
This index follows our series of travel indices we published over the past few years including the European Index on Most Passenger-friendly Airports, best European Railway Stations, and the Global Sharing Economy Index.

Image

We looked at most 5-Stars Hotels across the globe in order to find the 100 best hotels to sit out the ongoing global pandemic. We assessed the data hotels provide online with help from travel tech experts at Eddy Travels team.
In our methodology, 22% of the entire score was given for the extra precautionary measures hotels have introduced in order to limit the spread of COVID19 at their premises. 17.5% of the score can be earned by providing a diverse and tailored food offering. 5.5% for children’s activities and 11% for spa offerings. Further 5.5% for gyms and another 5.5% for pool amenities. Beach and ski-slope access make up another 5.5%.On property and off-property attractions such as bowling alleys and game-drives give the hotels additional points. We also weighted online review scores and the average Internet speed in the hotel’s country.

Limitations of this ranking:
We did not include some great, but smaller hotels, which do not have restaurants or swimming pools on the property. Also, we were not able to easily access the number of restaurants per hotel which would be a good additional indicator to use. Furthermore, we don’t have Internet speeds per hotel but had to use country averages. The willingness of hotels to provide facility information online influences this ranking and its data quality as well.

WILD LIFE AND PURE NATURE: KEMPINSKI EXPANDS INTERNATIONAL PORTFOLIO WITH TWO SAFARI LODGES AND A LUXURIOUS TENTED CAMP IN TANZANIA

Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire are only a few highlights attracting travellers to visit the African country of Tanzania, where more than a third of the landscape is under conservation protection. With its 22 national parks, this year-round destination guarantees wilderness seekers a stay in harmony with nature and the world’s most diverse safari experiences. Amidst the well-known „Northern Circuit“, Kempinski Hotels has now signed management contracts for three outstanding luxurious properties, two elegant lodges and a high-end tented camp, which will be open to wildlife lovers and guests as of 2023.

„We are delighted to be extending our international Kempinski portfolio in such an incredible country,“ said Bernold Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer ad interim and Chairman of the Executive Board of Kempinski Hotels at the signing of the management agreement with the owners. „In line with our brand promise of highest quality standards and to cater to our guests with outstanding destinations, we are continuing our selective expansion by adding high-class hotels in exciting parts of the world. While we are happy to be currently extending long term contracts within Europe in partnership with our highly respected owners, we are at the same time moving forward with our expansion around the globe.“

Lachezar Todorov, CEO of Helios Lodges Company, comments on the agreement: „With Kempinski Hotels we found a highly reliable and experienced partner, who since many decades delivers luxury experiences to guests around the globe. Their commitment and expertise in the hotel industry meets our vision of a long-term partnership for our new projects in Africa, which we hope to become a market leader and a trendsetter in this evergrowing market.“

Set in extraordinary wilderness sites, the three new Tanzanian Kempinski properties will be ideal to be combined in a roundtrip and offer a luxurious stay in close vicinity to the most demanded attractions in the country. Inspired by the natural elements of surroundings and with a focus on sustainability, each lodge has its own expressive architectural language and distinctive character that is unique to its particular, protected environment. With reference to the remarkable tree canopies of Africa, the architecture is dominated by expansive roof structures and projecting shade canopies which provide shelter from the African sun. Spacious terraces and magical outdoor living areas allow the guest to immerse themselves in nature.

19 tents with terrace and outdoor showers, two junior suite tents with an outside pool as well as two family tents with two rooms with more than 200 sq m await guests in the high-end Kempinski Msasa Lodge Lake Manyara. Placed on a ridge overlooking the lake and deep gorges, this luxurious tented camp offers access to world-class game viewing and an exceptional birdlife variety.

A World Heritage Site and the world’s most well-known wildlife conservation area, Serengeti National Park will be home to the 75 rooms Kempinski Longosa Lodge Serengeti. While the smallest guest rooms start at 71 sq m, the suites start from a size of 98 sqm followed by a three-bedroom villa of 270 sq m and a Presidential Villa of 400 sq m. Bars and lounges, dining area with decks and outdoor cooking, fire pit, outdoor pool, children‘s play corners and wellness area round off the facilities in the middle of an unspoiled setting of the animal migration corridor.

The third of the new Kempinski properties, surrounded by splendid Baobab trees in the heart of Tarangire National Park, is not only a haven for wildlife viewing, but also for bird enthusiasts who will be amazed by more than 550 species. With 75 guest rooms, suites and villas the offer at Kempinski Kitbong Hill Tarangire is similar to one of the lodges at Serengeti allowing guests to stay in highest comfort in a scenically attractive environment and to relax in luxury after an exciting day in the wilderness.

„More than ever travellers are longing to reconnect with the earth and to spend their precious vacation time to immerse themselves in nature“, adds Bernold Schroeder. „With these new Kempinski destinations in Tanzania, we are able to offer the best of both worlds to our guests by combining a stay in harmony with nature and the highest quality standards our brand has been known for over the last 125 years.“

The main entry point for visitors to the Kempinski Lodges is Kilimanjaro International Airport or the airport of Dar Es Salaam with connections to Arusha or Lobo. Another option would be flights from Zanzibar.

Off-road desert driving ABU DHABI

Abu Dhabi’s impressive desert dunes offer off-road driving enthusiasts a once-in-a-lifetime driving experience, but never go out into the desert alone. Ensure your car is fully serviced and insured for off-road use, and head off with at least three other four-wheel-drive vehicles. Pack enough water and food, a first-aid kit, and a spare tyre. If you’ve never driven off-road, you should first learn the ropes with one of the several tour companies in Abu Dhabi. Keep in mind that changing weather can drastically affect desert dunes. As such, the paths’ ratings listed below might change without notice*. If a dune crossing looks more difficult than you expect, get out of your car and check if it’s alright. If not, explore other crossing options a few metres to the left or right.

A trip to the desert isn’t complete without a night or two under the stars – and be prepared to experience some of the clearest night skies you’ve ever seen! Arrange a camping adventure with a tour company, or rent a four-wheel drive and buy the equipment yourself. Camping supplies are surprisingly affordable in Abu Dhabi, and there is no need to buy the most expensive equipment. In fact, you could probably buy a tent and two sleeping bags from a hypermarket for less than a guided tour. But never go out in the desert alone!

If you’ve caught the desert driving bug then we’ve prepared a few routes that you might want to try yourself!

Easy (67km)

1. Al Remah Route

Al Remah Route is great for beginner and advanced off-road drivers and takes about six to eight hours. The drive from the starting point to the Camel Farm Road is standard, but after the racing track it’s important to take a left out of the normal track, about 300m to 500m from the racing track. You decide what track you want to use from there. Take a look at our recommendations in the map pins below.

Easy (157km)

2. Al Ain To White Sands Route

This Liwa route is great for beginner and advanced off-road drivers and takes about four to eight hours. There are plenty of great remote camping spots in the centre section. Keep an eye out for gazelle in this middle area, too.

Intermediate (55kms)

3. Hameem Loop Route

Due to technical terrain, this route may extend to 70km or even 80km when driven. Taking about four to five hours to complete, you’ll find some particularly tricky terrain in the second half.

Intermediate/Advanced (60km)

4. Umm Al Oush Route

This route is not recommended for beginners and takes about four to five hours to complete, with steep climbs, sharp drops, deep bowls and highly technical dunes. Don’t forget your camera; the sights are stunning.

Advanced (109km)

5. Liwa Crossing Route

This is an advanced route with huge dunes, some of the largest in the UAE. There are some very tricky crossings and this remote route may take 1.5-2 days to complete. Make sure you take everything you need with you – early exit from this route is not possible.

Advanced (45km)

6. Al Khazna Route

This advanced route takes three to four hours to complete, with steep climbs, sharp drops, deep bowls and highly technical dunes.

Soneva Jani Welcomes a New Era with the Launch of Chapter Two

Soneva, the luxury resort operator with sustainability at its core, has announced the launch of Soneva Jani, Chapter Two. The award-winning Maldives resort is synonymous with over-water luxury, superlative hospitality and rare guest experiences, and this new chapter marks the beginning of an incredible new era. Now open to guests, Chapter Two expands upon Soneva Jani’s portfolio of luxurious water villas, as well as introducing exciting new dining concepts, the Soneva Wellness Centre, and a whole new way to experience the best of the resort with Soneva Unlimited.

“We are delighted to introduce guests to Soneva Jani Chapter Two,” says Sonu Shivdasani, Founder and CEO of Soneva. “As we continue to celebrate Soneva’s 25th anniversary into the middle of 2021, Chapter Two will mark the start of an exciting new era for Soneva Jani. At this milestone moment in our story, we will continue to set the standard for sustainable luxury with even more choices of exquisite accommodation, remarkable gastronomy and rare, unforgettable experiences for our guests.”

Twenty-seven new over-water villas can be accessed via a winding jetty off the southern tip of the resort’s main island. The new villas in Chapter Two have been carefully positioned to maximize privacy and create a true sense of seclusion, with the ocean on all sides and unmatched views of the sunrise or sunset.

Ranging from the spacious One Bedroom Water Reserves to a sprawling Four Bedroom Water Reserve, they are among the largest and most luxurious over-water villas of their kind in the world: each featuring vast indoor and outdoor living spaces and sweeping terraces, private pool, some have slides straight into the private lagoon, and outdoor bathrooms for bathing under the sun and stars. The one- and two-bedroom Reserves also have the iconic retractable roof over the master bed for stargazing. Ideal for families, all the rooms can be closed off, with a children’s sleeping area located just behind the master bedrooms for maximum peace of mind while staying overwater.

Like all of Soneva’s villas, the new Water Reserves have been crafted to the highest environmental standards, using sustainable materials, such as Forest Stewardship Council-certified woods, and state-of-the-art technology to reduce their impact on the planet. Commanding unforgettable views, they include 20 One Bedroom Water Reserves, six Two Bedroom Water Reserves (including one which has been designed to accommodate differently abled guests) and a Four Bedroom Water Reserve. Soneva Jani’s existing three and four Bedroom Island Reserves on the island now fall under Chapter Two.

When guests book a stay in any of the Chapter Two overwater or island villas, they get to experience Soneva Unlimited, an indulgent new offering that invites guests to enjoy every facet of Soneva Jani to their heart’s desire, all included in the price of the villa. Soneva Unlimited includes unlimited: dining at all bars, restaurants and In-Villa Dining; alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at all bars and restaurants; visiting Michelin-starred chef dinners and experiences; wines from the Soneva Unlimited list; experiences, diving, and children’s experiences; and spa treatments. Also included under Soneva Unlimited is a dedicated Barefoot Butler, return shared seaplane transfers from Malé, daily laundry service, and daily replenishment of the in-villa minibar. The full Soneva Unlimited menu can be viewed here.

Wellbeing is a vital part of the Soneva philosophy, and Chapter Two welcomes the launch of the new Wellness Centre on Soneva Jani’s picturesque South Beach. Set to open its doors in Q2 of 2021, the 1,742 sqm centre will set a new standard in holistic wellness, combining ancient Ayurvedic techniques with cutting-edge therapies. It has been designed to harmonise with its breath-taking beachside setting and features two indoor therapy rooms and three open-air treatment pavilions with unmatched views of the spectacular natural surrounds.

The Wellness Centre includes a dedicated Ayurvedic Clinic as well as an indoor consultation room for visiting specialists. Alongside a cross-functional fitness area, an open-air yoga pavilion includes facilities for aerial yoga. The new complex also features a retail area, featuring sustainable apparel, wellness products and accessories.

Chapter Two also expands on Soneva Jani’s choice of dining destinations. Overseas by Mathias Dahlgren was the first new outlet to open in October 2020. It is the brainchild of celebrated Swedish chef and restaurateur, Mathias Dahlgren. Inspired by its spectacular location next to The Gathering, this casual, overwater restaurant serves lunch and dinner menus of plant-based and pescatarian dishes, with produce freshly picked from Soneva Jani’s organic gardens, or sustainably caught in the waters around the resort.

So Wild by Diana Von Cranach is a fully plant-based restaurant in the midst of the Organic Garden. Diana’s 50 years of experience in plant-focused dining come to life in a menu that draws inspiration from Ayurveda and highlights ingredients grown at the resort. Having forged her own culinary path in Asia, the internationally renowned raw food chef and cookbook author has created a menu that revives historical recipes from around South East Asia and Indonesia. Ingredients are prepared using techniques like steaming, flash-frying, and dehydrating when they aren’t presented raw.

The third new culinary addition to Soneva Jani is So Primitive. Set around the central fire pit, this dining experience puts the element of fire in the spotlight. Think roasting, grilling, searing, salt-crusted baking, and cooking in kettles and clay pots over coals. Choose from a menu that features fresh seafood, meats, and plant-based dishes. So Primitive will be open for guests in the near future.

The starting price for a 1 Bedroom Water Retreat in Chapter Two starts from USD 3,560+++ in shoulder season, which includes all meals, transfers, experiences, drinks and spa treatments.
